2' x 3' poster of the title panel from the Batman origin story The Legend of the Batman - Who He Is and How He Came To Be. The 2-page story first appeared in Detective Comics #33, November 1939 as a preface to the full-length story “Batman Wars Against the Dirigible of Doom.” Legend was then slightly reworked with the addition of this title panel so that it could be featured as a stand-alone story in Batman #1, Spring 1940. I feel that this panel provides a perfect description of what this virtual exhibit has been all about - so it seems fitting to close out the exhibit with this image!
