(Pictured Right) Replica of Batman #1, Spring 1940, the first-ever issue of Batman's solo comic book title. Batman #1 was not only the first comic strictly devoted to the adventures of Batman, but it also featured the first-ever appearances of the Joker and the Catwoman (known simply as “the Cat” at the time). The comic was not quite the first-ever appearance of Batman’s young sidekick Robin – he had made his debut in Detective Comics #38, released shortly before Batman #1.
